Enduring Spirit: Learning to Thrive Again: Through the Spiral of the Jewish Year for Survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault
The statistics in the Jewish community on domestic violence and sexual assault mirror the numbers in the rest of the world. 1 in 4 women will experience some kind of violence in their lifetime. I am one of those 1 in 4. The last few years since the #MeToo Movement began, more and more people have come forward with their stories. That’s a good thing. Yet it still takes courage to tell your story. You are not alone! Healing is a journey. It is not linear. It is more like a spiral. Some aspects may need to be revisited again and again. Sometimes healing can feel imperceptible, but it still happens slowly over time. This book is designed to give you some tools to help you begin to heal within a Jewish context. The rhythm of the Jewish year can help. May you find, as you work through this book, a measure of hope and healing. Remember, no matter what happened to you, you are not alone. You are loved. You survived. And we journey with you.
